Course: The Power of AI in Social Media

Artificial Intelligence (AI), as the “new electricity,” is permeating every aspect of life and business. Social media is no different. But how does one use AI with the firehose of information and interactions that characterizes the social media landscape today? Case in point, 8100 tweets are shared every second!

This course will give anyone who uses social media for personal or professional reasons broad insights into how social media can take advantage of language and image techniques based on AI, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL). AI can quickly analyze and extract patterns from social media texts, images, hashtags, conversations, and deliver insights into individual accounts, groups, and networks just using open source data.

During our workshop, we will review natural language techniques that can provide linguistic and sociological analysis of small and large groups, as well as individual pages and profiles, including descriptions of personal traits. We will also review how machine learning helps identify the emergence of events and data patterns.

By the end of the course, attendees will have a solid understanding of the concepts and tools needed to embrace AI and ML in their personal and business social media lives. Professionals and businesses will learn how to take advantage of linguistic tools and techniques to understand the mood of users, and how to deliver content that best matches their audiences in every day social activities.
